ABOUT ABOUT

Join the Friends of Independence National Historical Park for an exciting new program: Underside of Independence!

These exclusive tours, led by Independence Park’s architect, Winston Clement, will explore those hidden spaces beneath our most historic sites! Learn about each building’s history, the technology used in its preservation (then and now) and view artifacts recovered during excavations. All from a truly unique perspective.

This four part series began on January 31st and because the first program was so popular, we are going to offer it a second time!  On February 21st join us for a rare underground look at two historic buildings: The Bishop White House and the First Bank of the United States.

Reserve your space today and come tour the Underside of Independence!*

Disclaimer: Due to location and condition of the underground areas, this series is not recommended for those with difficulty standing, walking, bending down or climbing and is not handicap accessible.

Please note that spaces can be narrow and the ground uneven. Appropriate footwear is required.  Children must be over 12.
