ABOUT ABOUT

Ever walk through Old City and think:

I don't really know as much history as I should, or, I haven't been to some of these places since I was in 5th grade? Not sure where to even begin when it comes to Independence National Historical Park (the first urban National Park in the United States)? The Young Friends of Independence have you covered.

Join the Young Friends for Intro to Independence, a "beginner's tour" of Independence Park for people who feel like they should know a little bit more about their city (and why we are a World Heritage City). This free, 45-minute, after-work walking tour is an historical "judgement free zone" that will introduce you to the First Bank of the United States (Alexander Hamilton's Bank), the home of Dolley Madison (before she was Dolley Madison), the Second Bank of the United States (that went to war with Andrew Jackson), Old City Hall, Congress Hall, Independence Hall, and--of course--the Liberty Bell.

This is the tour for people who feel like they should know "what happened here"...and it's FREE.

The tour will begin at Welcome Park at 5:30PM. Welcome Park is located on 2nd Street, between Chestnut and Walnut Streets, across the street from City Tavern. We will end at a bar for happy hour if you want to hang out and learn more.
